×We don’t all have thousands to spend on home improvements, but maybe you don’t need to spend big to make some really noticeable changes. We’ve all been there, maybe you’ve just moved into a rental property that needs some love or simply got bored of your space looking uninspiring, we’ve got a few ideas that can rejuvenate your home.
Soft Furnishings Make the World of Difference
If your style is relatively neutral, you can get away with regularly changing up your soft furnishing when you fancy a change of scene. A new patterned rug, some cleverly chosen throws or a new selection of mixed texture cushions can make the room look entirely different and give furniture a new lease of life too.
For a luxurious vibe choose velvets, furs and quilted fabrics or for something more contemporary look for natural looking woven fabrics such as rattan or jute. Your standard supermarkets will probably have great options, or of course have a google to find other options.
Take Things Back to Basics
Sometimes choosing a colour scheme can be both time-consuming and expensive. An economic buy, and something that will really allow you to be able to start from scratch in your home is investing in a large tin of white paint, such as personal favourite Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt. The tough, wipeable finish means it’s incredibly versatile so can use it to give ceilings a freshen up, or transform tired spaces into light, bright areas.
Give Your Outdoor Space Some TLC
Your outdoor space is in basic terms an extra room to your property, so why wouldn’t you make the most of it. Having your garden landscaped is not cheap, but you can pick up a few cheap pots and plants from discount shops which we all have locally.
Adding some colour by buying flowers and tidying up gates or fencing will make a huge difference but will also preserve the life of the perimeter of your home. We think Sadolin Classic fence paint is a great option and is available in a variety of colours.
Let There Be Light
Creating different zones by altering or adding lighting options can really make you use areas in your home differently. Use lower wattage bulbs for more relaxed spaces and introduce floor lamps or low hanging filament bulbs for places you might want to read or work.
Another method of creating light and making a space seem bigger is by cleverly placing mirrors in darker corners of your home. Not only do they look great, but the reflections spread light and really do give the illusion of spaciousness.
