What Is Masonry Sealer Paint?
Masonry sealer paints are waterproof coatings for exterior walls that help to prevent damp, damage & decay by preventing water ingress. They come in various forms & are labelled with a number of terms
Unfortunately, the treatments often labelled as 'sealers' are not breathable. When a non-breathable brick sealer is applied to exterior walls, they successfully waterproof the surface but also prevent moisture from escaping the brick. This leads to significant damage such as damp & decaying of brickwork.
What Masonry Sealer Paint Is Available?

How To Apply Masonry Sealer Paint
Masonry cream it is relatively simple to apply to your exterior brick walls. Firstly, as with any painting, it is crucial to make sure the surface is completely clean before you start. Wash down the surface using an anti-fungal wash to create the perfect base for the treatment to be applied to. There is no need to prime the surface when using a masonry cream, which means you simply have to apply one-coat of the treatment using a brush or roller and leave to completely dry. Apply the masonry cream so you can still see the brick slightly underneath, but thick enough that there is a visible coating of the solution on the brick. Over the course of the next day, the cream will penetrate into the brick, leaving no residue left, and appearing completely natural.
To apply masonry paint, you must also wash down the surface using an anti-fungal wash before you do anything else. If you are painting bare brick, it is highly recommended to use Emperor Paint Exterior Masonry Primer in order to prevent the paint from absorbing into the brickwork. If the surface is previously painted, you do not need to apply a primer. Once prepared, you can then apply two coats of Emperor Masonry Paint, ensuring you leave 6 hours for the paint to completely dry.
